Welcome

Helen Eason Physiotherapy is the forefront of expert oncology rehabilitation and lymphoedema / lipoedema management.

With 26 years experience, lymphoedema training at Masters level, a registered member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), and an Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) accredited lymphoedema therapist, you can be assured that you are in expert hands. Helen was one of the first 20 Australian therapists to train in Fluoroscopy Guided MLD (FG-MLD) and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney undertaking research into assessment tools for lipoedema.

Helen Eason Physiotherapy was founded to empower patients to recover their quality of life as quickly as possible by providing lymphoedema / lipoedema risk assessment, prevention, monitoring and management and post surgical, chemotherapy and radiotherapy rehabilitation.

Helen regularly updates her skills and has presented at APA, ALA, British Lymphology Society, Lipoedema Australia and International Lymphology Society conferences on best practice issues.

Helen Eason consults Wednesdays and Thursdays at Aligned Health, and is part of a team of experienced practitioners.

My Philosophy

I work with each client to form an personalised programme to maximise recovery, improve physical fitness and quality of life, and reduce pain. In addition to my qualifications in lymphoedema, lipoedema and oncology, I have a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine ensuring accurate diagnosis of your pain and movement issues.

In addition to my physiotherapy skills and experience, I also hold a counselling certificate. This enables me to incorporate counselling skills and motivational techniques where appropriate.

I use state of the art equipment (SOZO bioimpedance and lymphscanner) within your assessment. SOZO is used at Mercy Health and Monash Health so your measurements are transferrable to the public hospital lymphoedema clinics if shared care is required.

Many hospitals are not funded to provide best practice physiotherapy services for cancer patients. If no pre operative limb measurements are taken early diagnosis of lymphoedema after surgery or radiotherapy is not always achievable. I offer guaranteed gap free limb measurements pre and post operatively / post radiotherapy to ensure more patients can gain best practice within their care.
